MURDER AND SUICIDE.

IN NEW HEBRIDES. By Teleeraph—Press Association—Conyrlglit Sydney, May 3. ■ Details have been received from the New Hebrides of the murder of Colardean, one of the principal French residents at Port Villa. The deed was committed on the night of March 26 during a heavy gale which swept Port Villa' and devastated Fiji.

Tho murderer, a man named Powell, au Englishman,. was employed by Colardtan. He went to the room where the Frenchman was asleep, pushed his rifle through'the mosquito curtains to within an inch of the sleoping man's mouth, and fired. Powell afterwards killed himself with a revolver.

Colardean a few days previously displayed conspicuous bravery in rescuing several persons from a burning schooner laden with dynamite and gunpowder.
