May 3, 7.45 p.m.) Melbourne, May 3. ■After a meeting of the Federal Cabinet, the Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, stated that the papers showed that tho appointment of Colonel Kirkpatrick (Lord Kitchener's Chief of Start) as InspectorGeneral of the Commonwealth Forces was definitely completed by tho lato Government. The present Government had decided not to disturb it, and it would bo approved at the noit Cabinet meeting. Mr. .Fieher added that the revenue was coming in excellently, but he anticipates a shortage for the coming financial year of .£BOO,OOO. Still, he hopes to pull through without an appeal to the money market by the issue of Treasury Bills.
