6TOTJIAEY ASD FOEEOAST. : ■ Strong westerly winds have prevailed about and south of Cook Strait, with rain, and floods in tho rivers on the West Coast. Fair weather prevailed in- thi north, but changeable weather elsewhere. The barometer has continued high in the north, but has been unsteady and lower in the south. Present indications are for a falling barometer everywhere. Moderate to strong easterly winds northward of East Cape and Ka-wliia and fair weather but freshening northerlies and increasing cloudiness for more unsettled weather elsewhere. ■ ' ' D. C.
