Lady M'Laren insisted that there was no conclusive evidence that ■ the brain of woman, when given a fair ! chance, weighed less than that of man, I and sho cited the case of George Eliot, '. whose brain was well above the noi-mai ! weight oven for men—ono of the heaviest I brains in the country. Fearing that many in the audience would, not see the force of this argument, a delegate roso and gravely addressed the chair as follows:—"Many people hero do not know George Eliot was a woman."
