Eggena, Pansy Eggena ("La Milo," formerly Pansy Montague), and Percy Holland Easton, of the Motor House, Euston Road, who are charged with conspiring to obtain upwards of .£BOOO worth of jewels by fake pretences from Mr. William Edward Wood, jeweller, of Brook Street, Hanover Square. The case is being heard at the Old Bailey. The jewels, it is alleged," were obtained on the security of twenty-tire motor-oars stored at the Motor House, whioh, it is further alleged, were represented to be the absolute property of Eggena, but in respect of which, .only a deposit of JE4OO had been paid. "La Milo," giving evidence on own behalf, said her income for three 'years was J25000 annually. She married Eggena at the Grand Hotel, Birmingham, in December, 1908. ■ ' .Mr. Wood, the jeweller alleged to have been defrauded, forced the jewels' upon her. They included a diamond drop, Valued at £30,000, which the Kaieer was anxious to purchase.. Wood, witness stated, accompanied her to the Gaiety Theatre on the occasion of the King of Portugal's visit. «AUCKLAND HAS NOT BEEN I BEHIND."
