As i result of a fracas in Haming Street he had received a severo blow on tho head with a bar of iron. So had' been taken to tho hospital for treatment, but refused to stay there. It might be necossary, said the Sub-Inspector, to apply for a further remand next week J} 1 *? iu i had not recovered sufficiently by then. He asked that tho bail should bo inado substantial. Bail was allowed in tho sum of £80 and two sureties of £40 each. Mr. Fair appeared for accused. OTHER CASES. An information charging Samuel Coulter with being an idlo and disorderly peioon ill that ho has insufficient lawful means of support was withdrawn Iby leave of tho Court, arrangements having been made to havo defendant admitted to tho Ohiro Homo. John pleaded guilty to a ohargo of insobriety, and was convicted and fined 205., in default 7 days' imprisonment. Ono first offender, who failed to appear, was fined 10s., three other first offenders wore finod 65., and a fourth was convicted and discharged.
