SUPERANNUATION BOARD.
RIVAL POLICE CANDIDATES.
INSPECTOR AMD SERGEANT.
A meeting of the members of the police force was held at Lambton Quay station last evening, to consider the matter of the nomination of a representative of the force for election to the Public Service superannuation Board. The 'chair was occupied.by Station-Sergeant Darby, who presided over a gathering of over 40 men. Ihe name of Inspector Ellison was submitted for nomination. . Sergeant' Dart, of the Training.Depot, told the meeting that he took no exception to tho nomination of Inspector son, but he wished to make it clear that, whatever resolution was carried by the meeting, he himself would be a candidate S r ™ e ° tloll "s representative on the Public Service, Superannuation Board. He declined to let his name go before the .meeting as a candidate, because he recognised that it was out of the question to expect the constables present to support his nomination when the non-com-missioned officers were present supporting that._ of the inspector in charge of the district He argued that: the meeting 6hould not be called on to pledge itself now to support any particular candidate.. The meeting decided to nominate Inspector Ellison, for the position.
