LIVE STOCK SALES.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, April 27. At Addington yards to-day thero'wero full entries in all classes, those of fat sheep being unusually heavy. Store sheep, as might have been anticipated, considering the late period of the year, showed a falliug-off, but the yarding was ample for requirements. Cattle and pigs were represented by ordinary entries. There was! a large attendance, but the sale in many . belted animation, and prices were not satisfactory from the sellers' point of view.
Pat cattle were yarded to the number of 308, tho entries including some nice lines of steers, and the quality throughout was quite up to the standard of recent inar» kets. The demand was about the same as a week earlier, and a good clearance was made at prices showing no marked variation from previous rates. Steers realised £5 10s. to £9 17s. 6d.; heifers, £6 ss. to £7 155.; and dry cows, £4 15s. to £6 15s. Best beef sold up to 225. per 1001b., while cow and inferior beef ranged down to 18s. Fat calves were in good supply, and met with the customary demand from batchers, weU-gTown calve 9 in prime condition making to £3 125.. while young animals, chang. Ed hands from 4s. 6d. upwards. •• •
A small yarding of store cattle met with' a weak demand, yearlings making 255. to 305.; 15 to 18-months, 405.; 2-year heifers, £2 135.; 25-year steers, £4 10s.; 3-year steers, 1 £5 12s. 6d.; 3-year heifers, £3 lCs. to £3 lis.; and dry cows, -30s/to £4.> • - - Dairy cow<j sold -well at £3 10s. to £9. Extra, to £10 10s. '
There was a very large yarding of fat sheep, and the sale was not' concluded till • a late hour. The bulk of the entry aguin consisted of ewes. Though there was good- demand, the large supplies resulted in considerable weakening of prices for all classes. "Wethers sold better in proportion than ewes, but these were cheaper than last week, and there was a decline of fully. Is. 6d. per head in ewes, aged und inferior/ sort 3 being especially weaker in values. Tho range.of prices was:— Prime -wethers, 15s. fid. to 18s. 6d.; others, 13s. to" 155.; prime ewes, 12s. 6d. to 155.; extra, to -17s. 10d.; others, 9s. to 12s.
Tho entry of fat lambs "was larger than previous week, and the quality was, taken all round, good. Prices were easier, exporters having again reduced their limits, and, compared with previous week's • gales, were from Gd.'to 9d. lower, freezing weigKto realising 12s. 6d. to 445. 6d.; tegs,' to 155.-9 d.; and light and unfinished, 10s. to 12s. -.
•The yarding of store sheep showed a falling-ofF compared with recent sale?, but tho yarding, nevertheless, was a large ono for the advanced period of the year. Medium wethers made 12s. 3d. to 135.; fair to inferior, 10s; 3d. to 125.; good lambs, 105.3d.t0115.; medium, 95.3d.t0 10s.; small and inferior, 6s. lOd. to 95.; 2, 4, 6, and 8tooth ewes (gocd). 15s. 9d. to 16s. 3d.; fair to medium, 10?. 6d. to 12s. 6d.; . aged, 4s. 6d. (culls) to Bs. 6d.
There was a good yarding of fat pigs, and for baconers • there was keen demand. Choppers made to 705.; heavy baconers, 50a. to 545.; and lighter, 425. to 48s. (equal to fully 4d. per lb.). 'For-porkeTs there was not such a keen demand, prices, comparing unfavourably with those obtained for baconers. Best porkers made 325. to 365.; and .smaller, 24s.'to 30s. (equal to ' 4d. to 4ld. per lb.). No large' stores were yarded. Medium sorts made 18s. to 235... and smaller- sorts, 12s. to 16s. 6d. Weaners realised 43. to 7s.
Dunedin, April 27. At Burnside stock market 194 bead of fat cattlo were'yarded, consisting chiefly of good quality. In fact, .the entry was of better quality than for some weeks past. For all classes prices . were distinctly easier. Best bullocks, to £10 155.; good. £9 10s. to £10 55.; medium, £8 ss. to £9; best heifers, £7 17s. fid. to £9- 10s. . *•
Fat sheep: 3796 penned, consisting, mostly of ewes,- with a few pons'.of prime wethers. Atthe commencement of the so-io competition vas dull, but towards .the end priccs were firmer. Taken all round, last week's prices for .prime wethers maintained, but medium wethers and ewes were decidedly easier. * Best wethers, 15s. to 18s. 6d.; medium, 14-3.' to 15s. 6d.; best ewes, to 155.; extra, to- 18s.; othcT. sorts, 9s. to Us. Fat lambs: There was a small yardimr. 1453 being penned. There was little or no competition by export buyers, as the freezing works arc blocked owing to tho impossibility of getting shipping space. This state of affairs is likely to last anther fortnight. Prices to-day showed a .further drop. Best., totfl2s.; others, 10s. 6d to lis. 6d. , ' / Pigs: '130 yarded. Prices for young pies were much on a par with late rates. Workers and baeoners met_ with brisk pale. Suckers, ss. to 7s. 6d.;'slips, 12s; to !»»?.: stores, 18s. to 275. j porkers. 28s. to 345.; 3*-ht baconcrs, 38s. to 425.; heavy do., to 475. •

Best bulloclts made from £3 7s. 6d. to £8 17s. 6d.. medium bullocks, £7 15s. to £8 55.; light bullocks, £7 2s. 6d. to £7 12s. 6d.: good withers, 16a. Id ; heavy ewes, 15s.
