STATEMENT BY INSPECTOR .WILSON.
(By TeleeraDh.—SDecial OorresnondentJ v Palmerstori, April 27. ,In connection with, the statement made in Court yesterday, regarding Alexander H'Minn, that ho had been authorised by Inspector Wilson to hunt for Powelka, Hlio inspector, who wasin. Palmerston to-day in" oonncction with tho charges against Powelka, states that lie did not give M'Jlinn orders to go to Fitxroy Street, on the overling of the shooting iu, that\locality. Tho inspector, states that il'Aiinn'and Slatfcery canio to the. policc station, among many others, on tho afternoon of Monday, and stated 'that they had been searching for Powelka, arid-tlicy were sure that lie would bo at a certain place that, night; The inspector replied: "If he is, let us know, and we will have the pla:e surrounded." They then left, and said that tiiay would go to Slattery's house, because an attempt had been made previously to set it on fire. Slattery had a double-barrelled gun with bini, andj. on tho inspector's recommendation, left it at. tho polico station, where it remained for sonio days. Tho inspector did not .know, that Jl'Minn had a revolver, aiid tho evidence showed that it bad been lent.tohim after; ho left tho polico station. Both M'Minn and Slattory ,wero quite sober when the .inspsctor saw them in the. morning.
