Great floods occurred recently in I rc 'aud along the course of the Shannon. 1110 water spread for miles, cansing whole villages to be deserted by tho inhabitants, and in somo cases entire farm stocks wero swept off in the swollen river. Near Athlonb factories were closed, and a largo number of men thrown out of employment.
