/ A new invention for minimising danger on railways, which has been tested by Board of Trade officials, consists of a bar placed by the side of the line and worked by a wire from the signal-box, and a small instrument in front of the driver, which, when the train passes oyer the bar,-indicates in words the condition of the signal. When the instrument shows the word, "danger," -it rings a bell, opens tho lyhistle slightly and applies the brako. If tho word is "clear" ;a bell continues ringing until it is liberated.
