ADDITIONAL RESULTS OF. ELECTIONS. ■: . - \ MOUNT COOK. About:lso persons attended the annual meeting ■ of- householder s of' the Mount .Cook School district. Mr. T. S. Lambert presided.. In the. annual report of the outgoing committee regret was expressed that the attendance had fallen off. so much that the school had, according to .the education. regulations, lost a grade,- which necessitated a reduction in the teaching'6taff, and also a loss in the amount;:of capitation received by the committee. . "This' reduction in the • attendance," continued the report, "may be ascribed'to various causes, primarily to' parents removing to the suburbs to reside, and in other cases to-families leaving the : city altogether." The ' girle' school had also sulfered a fall in its roll number. The infants' school had been decidedly improved.during the year, and generally speaking, the -three' buildings, owing' to necessary repairs having been ! carried, out, were in fairly good condition; but were not up: to the standard requirements of modern schools.' | The financial statement, showed a credit balance, of" 19s. Every where, indignation was expressed' at the action of the Government in reducing the building and maintenance grants to Education.Boards and the capitation grants-to, the School Committees, and almost every meeting passed empnattc tesolutions-of protest- to be forwarded to the Minister. At the ;town householders meeting.the question of a central infant school was lengthily, discussed. Last year the householders'voted in'its favour, but this : time reversed the vote, and 'by a large majority decided against_ the proposal 'and in favour of an addition to the. infant departments to the existing town schools. ■ . . . ....
