(From Our Soecial Oorreanondontu 4 FEILDING. In a nine-a-side shooting match, a Cheltenham team defeated the Feilding Ride Chib by 708 points to GS3. The annual report of the Feilding and District Acclimatisation Society states that there has been a slight falling-off in the revenue derived from both shooting and fishing licenses, .but the financial position of the society is still good. The fish ponds this .year were restocked with 5000 each of rainbow-'hud brown trout fry. One of"the chief items of expenditure has been the constant repairs necessary, to tho fish ponds, and.it is advisable for. the incoming committee to devise some scheme to remedy' this state ot things.
CARTERTON
The harvest festival services in connection with' St. Mark's Church, wore hold on Sunday, when there were good con-' gregations,' although the weather was far from pleasant. The. church was tastefully, decorated, and the choir, which had been preparing specially for the event, were heard to advantage. Tho anthem, "He Walweth tho Hills," wasverv nicely rendered. The Rev. H. T. Stoaley, of the Clarevillo Native College, officiated in the evening. ■ ■ • The Wairarapa Rugby Union met here on Saturday evening, Mr. B. Chapman in the chair. The report and balancesheet were read and adopted, and showed that the debit balance of last year, amounting to ,£ll6 ss; 2d., had been replaced by a credit balance of £3 7s. 3d. Four senior, nine junior, and five thirdclass teams were nominated, inoludinca junior team from the new Weraiti Club, Te Whiti. Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P., was elected patron, and Mr.D. K. Logan president. Mr.-J. M. .Nicholls was appointed secretary, and Mi. "|& M'Kenzie treasurer. It. was decided to commence the championship fixtures'on May 14.

A: M'Niclde took' theevening services at-the Anglican- Church on Sunday evening, preaching a very interesting sermon. ■ ■■■'■■ A,football match was played at Jfanakan oh Saturday between" the Otaki team and Levin. -Tho latter won by 12 points to G.- • At the Otaki Police Court yesterday morning George William Wnrry appeared before Mr. Byron Brown, .T.P., to answer a charge of 'drunkenness. Defendant pleaded not guilty, but was fined 20s. Mr. T. Taylor, who was a resident of Otaki some 18 years ago. and then captain of the local football club, is now "mine host"'of the Jubilee Hotel.
FEATHERSTON. . Mrs. John Murphy, an old and respected resident of Featherston for tho past forty years, died on Saturday, aged: 65. The deceased was a sister of Mr. W. G.' Hodder. The interment, which took place yesterday, was largely attended. On Sunday a painful accident befell Francis Huntley, the ten-year-old daughter of Mr; A. E. Huntley, of Pig-son Bush. It appears that the ohild was in the cowbail, and was reaching for a bucket, preparatory to milking, when a cow, kicking viciously, struck her on the right leg and fractured it.
