At a meeting of fanciers interested in fox terriers held last .night, it was decided to form a South Island Fox Terrier It was explained that the club would not be antagonistic to the New Zealand Fox Terrier Association, but it was hoped its establishment would bring.fox terriers into more pro~ minence in this part of the Dominion, Sir J. G. Ward, Sir'G. H'Lean, and Sir G. Clifford were elected patrons, Mr. E. Webster president, and Messrs. F. Rogen (Dunedin), G. Moffett (Invercargill), and W. Perry (Christchurch) vicepresidents. The chairman announced that Mr. Thomson had donated a challenge shield, valued at 20 guineas, and Mr. Kerr a cup valued at 3 guineas, for competition. The shield will be competed for each year by. dogs or bitches over 12 months old, wire or smooth-haired, and a gold medal valued at two "uineas will be offered yearly to the holder when, relinquishing the shield. Mr. Kerr's cup will be awarded for the best puppy under 12 mon&e, smooth or wire haired. The shield will be competed for at Dunedin this year, and afterwards at Christchurck and'lnvercargiH in , due course. '.■;..
