THE BOARDER'S PLAINT.
Laughter was caused at Mr. Crawford's meeting last evening by a question which was put quite gravely to the candidate:, "Would you' be in favour of an inspector to inspect the hoardinghouses of Wellington, and see ,that the boarders have decent accommodation and good tuoker?" ; :
Mr. Crawford added to the laughter by replying that he would not like to be that inspector. ; . "We take it that you are not in favour of that?" urged the serious questioner. ... Mri Crawford replied that there were already inspectors to see to the first part of the suggestion. "As to the tucker, I'm afraid 1 that if it's not gooH the boarders must go elsewhere." (Laughter.) "What about the boarder who never pays his board?" inquired another member of the audience.
Mr. Crawford said that he , had some good friends who kept boarders," but he would not like to suggest to them that their "tucker" was inferior.
