So far, no I sire has been chosen to mate with the English-bred mare, although her. owner i-hasbeen deluged with offers of free services.,. It is also'stated that the Pilgrim's Progress filly, Celaehq, will not be, persevered with further, and is to. accompany Perolina to the paddock. Oliver will ride the trio. As the Awapuni tracks are in splendid order at "the present, time, Price has been enabled to\do plenty, of work with his team, and! the blue and buff colours should be carried prominently by, Nyland and the others, The hurdler, Aorangi,: has > r be'en.-•• regularly; schooled since the Peilding meeting, but he-will not be a starter until the iOentury Hurdles-ift't *tff4p.WngftiiiK meeting next month.". .'"'.:"■' '.'"
■ Waikaraka. has -..pleased :his trainer. . byi.the, manner, -in .-which . he'.,has -. been. getting through his tasks at Awapuni, and; should nothing unforeseen- occur in the/meantime, he will be railed to Hastings on. Monday to take part in the Hawke's Bey meeting. "■:'.''■■'!• . The Wanganui owner,' 3. N.' Coleman, has turned Mobso out, and , it is unlikely that he will be again trained. The hurdle gelding became affected in the wind," and, as it is practically certain that he will not improve, it would be futile to : persevere ■ with him fur:.ther.. ■■.-'■ ■'■.'..• -. ■■ ;■■■''• ."-•'■ •"■■

Holmes is taking tie trip for the benefit of his health, and expects to be absent about four months. While in America he will probably endeavour to-purchase a couple of good'horses to bring back with nim. During his absence his horses will be spelled. It■ .was expected that"North Head would figure in the nominations, for the principal jumping events at the Waiiganui meeting, but as the big Birkenhcad gelding, is still turned out, it is unlikoly that he will be nominated .for any meetings for some-time to come.
