Davys) presided, and there were .'. about 30 people present J .. •The vicar,, in an ; interesting • address, referred; to his recent visit to England, and. mentioned ~with ..satisfaction the .. severance .of "Brooklyn from the. parish, and its flourishing'condition as a separate parish. The work- at Keltrame was , prospering, the property was worth .£2OOO, and. tho .debt, was .£600,. having been reduced by'a considerable 'amount .during, the year. ' Good work was being done at Taranaki Street, where. the mission was' financially and otherwise successful. The property was worth - the. debt .was ,£528, the- net return per ,annum-:was ,£54- 10s.,and the debt ! was ;, being. . steadily... ...reduced.-Something .should be done, for Mitchelltown, a part r of:;the parish where houses were sprmg;ing_up every day.. Mr. ,C..G. Mutto was . ;to be ordained at the end of the'week, .and would be with, them as assistant . curate.of. the parish at the end of July. I There was work for : a curate—indeed, *for half a dozen curates. A deaconess was alse required. When in England, he gathered that it would be easy to obtain - a highly-trained woman' of education, ,if her maintenance could be provided for. ~: He:, expressed hearty, .thanks •to his cirarcnwarden,'■ Mr. Ballingef,' and to the people's churchwarden, Mr, Lloyd. The , 'church buildings were, in: an excelfenfc j state, and the vicarage : should last for ...■'■lten or fifteen years longer. He thanked (the outgoing vestry:for its loyal help, ill -.the parish organisations were flourish- . ing, . ; but ; the ■ Missionary Guild not doing, as well as it . . (might. The annual report and balance-sheet (already summarised in The DoironoK) were adopted. '. • ' The report, of. tie .'St.' Peter's School Society showed that the mortgage debt had been reduced by £125, and there was ,an outstanding balance of ,£975. Dona'tiohs of .£lO, each from the church choir and-tho. ladies'. working party -were acknowledged. The report was-adopted. The report of St; Peter's Club, which was^shown, to be in a'flourishing condiwas adopted. .?. •„,; The following officers were elected:— Vestrymen, Messrs. H; P. Allen, E. Anderson, A. L. Beattie, T. Bash, G. Lawrence, H. B. Bainbridge, W. E. Couthwick, E. Wilberfoss, D. Hall, A. Hobson; churchwardens, Messrs. T. BalHnger.and H. W. Lloyd; auditors,.Messrs. J, W. Butt: and G. N. Wilton. , 'Votes I .of thanks to the churchwardens, the organist (Dr. Fife), the choir, the ladies' working party, the auditors, and :Mr. E.Anderson, foi work in connection with.-the schoolroom- trustees, were passed. y . , . The Rev. A. W. H. Compton gave an encouraging account of the. work in the Kelburne district. • Mr. Walton, in a spirited address, gave an account of the valuable work in connection with the Taranaki Street Mission.
