'Although the retrenchment schemo of the Goyernment has hit Northland hard,, there being a number of Civil Servants. living in tho suburb, still the churchwarden, Captain Richardson, reports that he has been just able .to make ends meet. No special effort has been made, owing to the absence in England of the vicar, the Kev. T. G. Kay, and great satisfaction, is expressed at his return. Tha committee reports that tho, General Synod agreed to the snlo of "the section ot land at Creswiek ; th«. proceeds to go towards the debt on iho church. It is hoped that the inteerst on the mortgago will be met in future by a scheme which is in the' hands of Mr. J. S. Ruttcr, churchwarden, thereby relieving the genoral account of this item. Thanks are given to parisliiontrs who do all the work of the church voldntarily, especially to Mrs. Stubbs, who, during the year .worked very hard for the Sunday School site fund.
