A post-mortem " examination of the body of tho eight-year-old girl which was found : buried in the bush near ioughby, ..with ghastly wounds, disclosed the fact that she had been brutally outraged before being murdered. Her; father,';a labourer named Phillips, was arrested; and was formally charged with Haying murdered his daughter.,, .:• He' vehemently protested that tho charge was a.lie. ~; *~ ■ NEW, YORK SENSATION. . In connection with the charge against Albert Wplter, a : \New York stenographer,:, aged about eighteen, for; the murder, of "a girl of sixteen named Ruth Wheeler, whose partly-burned mutilated body was found upon a fire-escape adjoining the. rooms occupied by the accused youth, a jury has been empanelled. .. : The public excitement equals that over the Thaw .casß. . In opening the case, tho prosecution stated it could prove that strangulation and incineration were not the only injuries on the, girl's : body.
