TEACHERS' SUPERANNUATION
The quarterly meeting of the Teachers' Superannuation ' Board was held yesterday, the Minister for Education (the Hon. Q. Towlds) presiding. According to the statement of finances submitted,. the balance at present standing to tho credit of the fund is .£131,300, invested at ' rates ■ varying ; from 1 per cent, upwards. Seven contributors were' granted allowances amounting to £839 lis., and two others, retiring under Section 9 of tie Act, allowances amounting to £104. Amounts totalling £251 ss. were granted to two contributors who had been certified as being medically unfit.' The extended provisions of Section 12 of the Act were taken advantage of by three contributors, who were granted retiring allowances totalling ,£231 17s. Other allowances were as follows:—Refund of contributions to legal representatives of! a; contributor, £64; annual allowance to widow, .£18; to widow and three children, £18, and ss. per week per child; refunds to 36 contributors retiring 'from the Service, £844 15s. 2d.
