MASTERTON ITEMS.
The annual meeting of thS: Wairarapa Hockey Association was held" on 'Tuesday evening,- when there was a good attendance of delegates. The . report state! that the season had commenced with a debit . balance -of £2 . ss. 7d., but had ended with a credit balance'of £15 9s. 3d. The following dubs were affiliated:—Excelsior (one senior and two junior teams); Post, : anu. Tolegraph ;(one senior team), St. 'Matthew's: (one junior team). The president, (Mr.' A.. C.' Major) intimated that he - would donate a cup for the, senior competition.) It was decided to begin the championship matches on May 5, and that nominations should, closi on April 28. The election. of officers resulted as follows r—President Mr. A. C. Major; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. C. Buchanan, MJ?., W. Howard Booth, H. H. Donald, W. Prognell. A.. W. Cave, A. Nicol, W.;J. Martin, D:' Caselberg< and S. Inder; delegate to the .New Zealand Hookey Association, Mr. W. B. Barley (Addington); secretary and treasurer, Mr. A; ,C. Pragnoil; auditor, Mr. J. B. Rue; Management Committee, Messrs. J. Fisher, A. J. Fisher, H. H. Donald,, M. Mlntosh, W. Minett, and the president and secretary, ex-officio; Postponement Committei,, Messrs. A. C. Pragnell, E. Fairbrother, and L. E. Lyons. '• . .' '■■•■■, Although a number uf search parties h&ve betn ?ttt" on the Tararua Ranges, none of them have been> able to find; any trace of tho prospector, Mr. Tom Donnelly, who has now been missing for about three weeks. Another party, under Constable Dunn, left for the ranges yesterday morning to -make a further search. The party includes several settlers who are familiar with the surrounding country.' ... . Good progress is being made with tho contract for the erection of the freezing works for,the Wellington Farmer's' Meat Company: at Waingawa.'. A road has been formed and metalled from the Main Road and the small lagoon j,at the back has been drained. The main building is well • under way, and a commencement has been made with the construction of the machinery building., It is expected that the works will be completed well within contract time. ■ : • ■ . His Excellency the Governor is to pay a farewell visit to Masterton to-day. A reception.is to.be held in the.Town Hall, when it is intended to present Lord Plunket. with an illuminated address.
