Mico Collcgo,. Jamaica, ' the largest teachers' training college in the West Indies, has been destroyed by fire. The damago is estimated at J!30,0D0. A large number of ex-soldiers will shortly be wanted as taxi-cab drivers in London, and in order to fit men who will shortly be ' leaving the Army for the Scotland Yard examination, in streets and routes, classes are being formed at Aldershot. Employers will arrange for tho instruction in driving men who pass the topographical examination. About 2,500,000 trees have been planted in the Washburn'Valley by Leeds Corporation as an experiment ■in afforestation. Tho work, which was begun fivo years ago, has largely been carried ont by the unemployed and with the aid of Local Government Board grants. ' The old castle at Richmond, Yorkshire, has been banded over to the care of tho Commissioners of Works by the Duke of Richmond and Gordon under tho Ancient Monuments Protection Act.
