HARRIERS.
COMBINED CLUB RUN: That the present season promises to be a record oho as far as harrierism is concerned is borne, out by the splendid attendance at the combined run of the Wellington and Brooklyn Harrier Clubs, held from the Brooklyn Hall, which had been kindly placed at the disposal of the clubs by Mr. Fullford, on Saturday afternoon. The Wellington Club was represented by 23 runners, while the Brooklyn representatives turned out to the number of IS, making a splendid pack of-nearly forty runners. P. Wilton, captain of the Brooklyn Club; acted the part of pacemaker, while <F. Wilton, the holder of a like position in the Wellington Club, acted as whipperin. A splendid trail, embodying about seven or eight miles of ideal harrier country, was laid by Messrs. Hodson and Barnes (Brooklyn) and Lamb (Wellington), and all the members showed very fair form, considering that the season has just commenced. At the conclusion of the run, the usual, run-in took place over a distance of about 250 yards, and, after a spirited contest, resulted as followsßust (Wellington), 1; Murray '(Brooklyn), 2; Charters (Wellington), 3; with Don and Beaven (Brooklyn) and Rowberry (Wellington) close up. At the conclusion of the" run the clubs were "most' hospitably entertained by Mr.' and' Mrs. Fullford at their residence, and, before dispersing, Captain F.' Wilton briefly rettirned thanks on behalf of both clubs, and three ringing cheers were given for the host and hostess.
The Wellington Club runs from the Karori tea-rooms nest Saturday, while the Brooklyn Club's run takes place from Thorndon Baths.
