"SEARCH PROCEEDING VIGOROUSLY."
Sir,—ln addressing on' the subject of the search for j.'oweika, I feci confident that I am only giving expression to the views of the many when'l say that too much publicity is given to the movements of ther police. . Tile fugitive's objective is surmised,. and tho steps to be taken for his arrest are • duly notified. This information leaks out, which' the fugitive and those who sympathise with him aro quite cute enough to take advantage of. . My advice to those who are in a,position of responsibility, in connection , with ' this matter is: Don't divulge anything; keep mum! Trained dogs as trackers .have been used witli advantage, in England and on tlio Continent. If I remember rightly,.there' is an.article in.one of the back'numbers of "Pearson's Magazine" on some special trained collio dogs that have earned a great reputation in that and are much sought' for 'by English and' Continental buyers. I would suggest, then, . that some bo obtained for use, of the police.—l am, '' : GEO. H. DAVIES, [Powelka has been captured since onr correspondent's letter was written. It, nevertheless, is well worth publishing.]
