An, instructive lecture on how to act in a sudden emergency calling for medical attention, was given by Mr. James. Moore, tie missioner, at the Missions to.Seamen Institute last night. , There was : a large and interested audience. The lecturer dealt chiefly with the common accidents of life, showing the methods of bandaging fractures, burn,?, etc. He also gave several useful hints relating to healtli matters. Competitions in connection with rescuing a person from a burning building, and ambulance work, were won by sailors from ships in port. A bright musical programme, was arranged by Miss Picot,' the following contributing items:— Misses Picot, Woollett, and Smith. Miss Picot acted as accompanist. Mr. IPNaughton gave several very cleverimitations. A hearty vote of thanks was. accorded the performers ■at the conclusion- of the, meeting.
