QUARTERLY CIRCUIT MEETING.

Tho quarterly meeting in connection with the Levin-Otaki circuit was held at tho Mauakau Church on Thursday night, when the following were present: Tho Revs. T. F. Jones (in the chair), F. Rands, Mrs. R. Prouse, , Messrs. R. and J. Prouse, P. W. Goldsmith, T. G. Vincent, D. Braid (Levin), J. H. Andrew (Manakau), C. T. Russell, C. H. Williams, A. E. Anderson,' I. Hughes, S. Goldsmith, and Frank Penn (Otaki). Tho balance-sheet showed that both onds of the circuit were in credit on the past quarter's working, which was regarded as most satisfactory. At tho Levin end there was a credit on.the quarter's working of £6 15s. Bd., thus reducing the old-standing deficit from £20 ss. 4d. to £13 9s. Bd. At tho Otaki end there was a credit in hand of £S Ss. 2d. It was resolved that a sum of £5 be paid over,from Otaki's credit balance to the parsonage site fund. , . { Tho reports of the various Sunday schools throughout the circuit were generally of a favourable nature. A discussion took place as to the advisability of forming a Bible • Class, C.B. Society,- or branch 'of the Y.M.C.A., in order to keep a hold of the young'people after leaving, the Sunday schools, but,no definite, steps 'were taken. . ■ '-'..■ It was reported that a Foreign Mission : deputation would visit the circuit on June. 22, and the arrangements for the visit'were left in the hands of the. Eev. T. F. Jones. • The matter of the proposed new connoxional paper to be established shortly was discussed, a notification being . received that the first issue of the paper would be .printed on May 7. The paper will contain sixteen pages,- and will be printed fortnightly.' The meeting-was asked 'to guarantee to secure eighteen subscribers for the new paper, and it was ; resolved to guarantee two dozen subscribers. Mr. D. Braid was appointed Levin agent for the now journal, and Mr. Penn at Otaki, while Mr. A. .Anderson, was. appointed reporter a& Otaki, and Mrs...P. Amis at. Levin., Tho .following resolution -was carried

unanimously :-t--'That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded the Rev, .C. B. Jordan for his .faithful .services during his year's ministry in the circuit, and that this meeting wieh him God-speed in his new circuit and future work.' , ' It was also.resolved to'send a letter to Mr. and Mrs. Palk, who recently.loft the. district, recognising the good work done by them in the circuit, and thanking them for their services, .

It was resolved that the next meet-, ing be held at Manakau on July 6, at 7.30 p.m. '
