The'damage at Messrs Nelson Bros.' Taruheru Freezing Works,- Gisborne, by the recent flood has now been assessed bv. Lloyd's agents. Somo 295)4 carcasses of mutton and lamb and 276 quarters; of beef have', been classed as unfit for .shipment to England, and have to bo boiled.down. The flood water invaded the freezing chamber, rising to a depth of about 10 inches. On the water reading it was found that tho lower tiers had been flattened out and solidly frozen in one block, and it was found •necessary to use'such implements as crowbars to break the blocked ice-.
