: •'■ • BOSS GOL-DFIELDS, CO. : IBy' Telegraph.—Press Association.! . Hokltiha, April 14. Further delay has. been caused, in tho operations at the. Ross Goldftelds Company's, the tram : work . having been suspended pending the removal of some trews, which arc closo to the transmission line between Hokitika and Eojs. : As soon as this work is completed, the onmpß will be Bet in motion, and the unwaterincc' of tho niine, which' will necessarily take, j some days, provided the gear is in good working order, will ho resumed. Immediately -the shaft is unwatered, tho permanent pumps will bo installed, and. after tho old drives are in a fit condition to work, mining operations. should bo commenced.
, ' MINE.MANAGERS: ■KEPOBTS. , " Old Hauraki.—During tho week ending April 8, the 400 ft. level (new reef) has been advanced sft., making a total from tho rise of 57ft. Tho reef maintains its size, viz., 2ft. It is making more solid. 'I'ho country and mineral are favourable. Tho Green Harp drive has been advanced sft.. making:., a \total; : from tho rieo of 54ft. There is . nothing fresh to report. The rise. No. 2, has been advanced sft. The point whore tho rise is being put up us about 12ft. from the point whore the coldwas secured. The rise will be continued a further 7ft., and then a drive will bo made over the point where the gold was fdund. The leading stone in the inter-, mediate drive has been advanced 7ft. The ground is heavy, reouiring tiinberinir The reef is pinched, but , will malio aff.iin a few feet ahead. This stope will rca«h the faco of the drive in a fow days, when driving seaward will be resumed. The rise has been advanced 4ft.. and 201b. of specimen stone were seenred in the seaward end. Gold has been left showing. . This 300 ft. level (new reef) has been advanced sft., making a total of 60ft. A favourable change: of country has lust been met with, and the. reef is makinc stronger again. Bunker's .intermediate has. been advanced 6ft.; making a total of 36ft. iThe' reef and country continue to bo. favourablc for gold.
Royal Oak—During the weok sft. has been driven on tho reef in the leading drive from the winze, and a few stones showing strong blotches of gold have been seen, but nothing to class as picked stone so far. At present the lode is disturbed a. little, and divided into two parts, but it seems to be shaping for comirnr together again. I am prospecting a leader on the main road level where colours of gold are plainly visible in kindly looking brown quartz. ■ .
May Queen.-No. 9 level:.Stoping is proceeding as usual on the Queen of Beauty reel in the south 'drive, and very fair prospects are being met with. The reef, which is from two to three feet wide, looks well, while the quartz shows dabs and colours of gold.. As the water blast did not supply enough air to ventilate theso workings, we have installed a small Pelton wheel, so we have now very fair ventilation. In the - northern crosscut the stopes on the No. 4 level are being carried ,on as usual, and a fair amount of crushing dirt is being won, from which a few pounds of picked stone have oeen selected during the week. No. 6 level: The hanging and fdotwall branches of No. 4 lode, above the intermediate level, are beinu stoped on. and the auaru coraiiig to hand occasionally yields a, little picked stone. .
Kuranui—Tho Eureka 6oction of tho Blyth low level, west drive, has been extended sft., making a total of 38ft. The leader has improved, and good mineralised ore is comiug to hand. The hanginewall leader is of a rubbly' nature.' The country, is getting hard and difficult to break. Five feet have been stripped from the shaft lode stope, and the leader taken down. As this stoDe is now abreast of the junction of the southern'leader, work on the shaft lode. will be stopDcd. and work will be started in tho southern nortion of tho lode. South drive: Six feet has been added to this drive, making a total distance of 36ft. from tho shaft lodo. The leader has been taken down n-nH fine gold was seen in the quartz. Rising will start at this point, and a stopo brought back to tho main ore body. Rails and flat sheet have been laid down, and two men will commence at this work on Monday morning.
Thames— During, the past week the drivo on the Cambria reef has been advanced a further distance of 6ft. The country, which has been of a very hard nature of late, is now showing signs of becoming easier for breaking. The reef still maintains her sizo (3ft.). but there is no improvement to mention. On the cross reef a distance of sft. has been driven, and tho lode is 3ft. in width. .
