Our , Dargaville correspondent, telegraphs that Mr. Lyons, Government Veterinary Surgeon, on Tuesday inspected Mr. Edwin ■ Harding's flock and found that the sickness with, which stock in tbe north is so' genevaUy affected was mostly among the ewoi; and was known as facial eczema,- the disease which was described in Tin; Dominion recently. It is caused, by an excess of soft grass, and it appears that it' sheep arc in low con-dition'and-are put on soft grass a'heavy mortality is frequently caused. Fortunately Mr. Harding's flock was mostly in heavy, condition, so that losses would only be about one .per cent. The remedy laid down is to remove, the flock and put them oii dry pasture. The next/place visited was Mangarata, where Messrs. Dreadon' Bros, have had considerable trouble. Their.flock was affected with the same complaint.,.
