Wilson, reported that lie: had beea , again, approached hy the Eev. H. Biad-: dock for. the use of,the school after regular hours for the purpose of delivering . religious instruction to children subject i to the consent of their parents. He (the '. ■chairman) had granted an interim permit - with the proviso that it.should be signed by at least four members of- the com-" mittee. As this had already'been "done it was decided to > uphold the chairman's action. '■■■'■'■ ■""■' .■..'; A letter was' received from the Edu- .', cation Board intimating that tenders . had keen called for. the new school on King's Koad. . . ■An entertainment is shortly to be held .. for the purpose of increasing the school prize fund. A meeting of tho Petone Ambulance : Brigade was held in the Mayor's room ■; at the Council Chambers last evening. Jf. J. W. M'Ewan occupied tho' chair. ' The secretary (Mr. W. G. D. Evans) reported that the cash in hand toward tho ambulance wagon was ~£9O 19s. Cd., and . the total expenses to date.JEl 4s. Further arrangements were mado regarding the concert and dance which is to •be ■ ■ held on Friday, • April 22,: in aid: of the fund. It was decided to appoint Mrs. . Bennett, the Mayor, Messrs. Cook, Cox, and' Hancock, as a suh-comniitteo to. arrange details as to the selection of n vehicle and submit same to a meeting of the general cdnimittee. . . . POLICE COUET.
