Dr..Kington Fyffe, who.made-a-post-, mortem examination of the body, described certain, internal growths, and mentioned an inflammation of the stomach. An analysis of that organ would be necessary to. determine, the cause'of death. The inflammation referred to [ would not be accounted for by deceased having had a hearty meal of tomatoes and a glass of -whisky. V. Jane' Hamilton; mother of' the deceased, stated that her daughter's .child, a boy of 10 years of age, had been stopping with her and had contracted diphtheria. He was taken to the Wellington Hospital where,he died on April 10. The news was telegraphed to his parents and they came down from Auckland on Monday. Witness met them .at the ' station and took them to Brooklyn.. Mrs. Heron looked very ill. Witness understood that she had been about to undergo an operation. She did not know what for. Her meal that evening included tomatoes and whisky. On Tuesday, at about G. 45 a.m., witness spoke to her through tho door, asking her how she was. She replied that she had slept well and had taken another glass of whisky. Witness understood that deceased had had no food on the journey down from Auckland, and had been kept, up on whisky as a stimulant. She. did not appear to be affected by the stimulants, on her arrival in Wellington. After speaking to her at 6.45 a.m.,: the husband called her and she went into the room. Deceased was then lying on the bed, evidently dying. Thomas Heron, husband of the deceased, described the journey to Wellington. For the last two or three years his wife had seemed in fair health and did not complain. ' ' The coroner said that the inquest would be adjourned until Friday at 3.15 p.m.,' pending the result of an analysis of the contents of the stomach. TWO MEN BLOWN TO PIECES. Reefton, April 13. . A terrible accident occurred at the Energetic .'mine to-day. When knocking off, two men, Johns and. Bichards, new men to the district, and supposed to have recently, come from Waihi, fired'a row of.holes on No. 11 level and were found blown to pieces. Johns is supposed to have originally come from Mount Morgan, and Eichards from .Auckland.
