EMIGRATION.
' THE COLD OF CANADA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright .London, April 12. • Some settlers in British Columbia have communicated with Sir J. W. Taverner (Agent-General for Victoria) expressing a desire to migrate; owing to the rigorous Canadian climate. They ask on what terms Victoria would grant them land to be worked co-opera-tively, and probably held collectively. They estimate they can muster a thousand families, and 6ay they have no desire to speculate in land. Economy is the only reason for the idea of co-opera-tion.
Sir J. W. Taverner has replied that a Victorian delegation will probably bo returning via Canada, and that meanwhile'ho is advising his Government.
