BUILDING BURNED AT INVER- . CARGILL. (By Telegraph.-Press Association.) Invercargill, April 12. A large corrugated iron building in Esk Street, one !of the landmarks of Inyercargill, was destroyed by fire early' this morning. Part of the premises was ocoupied by Messrs, J. E. Watson and Co. as a machine store, and, their large stock of agricultural implements and oils was destroyed. The firm was insnred for '.£IOOO in the South British, but their loss is considerably larger. Mr. J..8. Moir; tinsmith, another tenant, was insured for .£2OO in the South British. Mr. J. Gillies, picture-framer, who was uninsured, estimated his loss at ,£l6O. A MYSTERIOUS FIRE. '■ Taihape, April 12. A house of four rooms at Winiata, owned_ by a Native named. Winiata, and occupied by Dean, a butcher's assistant, was burned at two o'clook this morning. The tenant only vacated the house last evening. The,origin is a mystery.' The, police are inquiring. It is believed there is no insurance.. . SAWMILL BURNED OUT. News was received yesterday that Mr. Henry Alexander's big sawmill at White.man's Valley, in the Upper Hutt district,had been completely destroyed by fire early yesterday, morning. The fire was discovered shortly after 3 . a.m., and though alj hands turned but and worked hard to save-the mill,, the flames had got too big a hold, and in one hour the place was in ashes.• The mill was built! 'by Mr. William Burt,' and was managed by him 1 until his decease, when Mr. Alexander became the purchaser. A HOUSE IN WILLIS STREET. At 9.29 o'clock last evening, ,the City Fire Brigade received a call to 214 Willis Street. An outbreak of fire was found to have .occurred' in an' eight-roomed house occupied by Mrs. Emily Vause, and owned by the Tusten Estate. The kitchen and passage were badly damaged, and the rest of the building suffered from heat and emokie. ■ There were several boarders in ..the house.
