Mr. MTtinnon Wood added that the British Government's interest in the Suez Canal Company would terminate with the concession (which at present extends till 19C9). London, April 1L The "Manchester Gnardian" says that shipping people are gratified at the Egyptian Assembly's rejection of the proposal for the extension of the Suez Canal concession, believing that the amount that would have had to be expended by the company on renewal work had the concession been granted will now be available for a decrease in the shipping charges.
