NEW ZEAL\NDERS AT HOME.
Still another' New Zeahmder has made his' mark in connection with Rugby football at Home. This is J. B. Lindsay, a son of the Eev. Geo. Lindsay, of Invercargill, who was .chosen from tho London Hospital tonin to represent vScotland against Ireland as a half-back. He duly took part in a contest which ended in a victory for his side, while private advice is to the effect that he also played for Scotland against England on the occasioii of tho latter fifteen carrying off the international premiership about three weeks ago. A leading London writer on February 21, commenting on the personnel of the Scottish side, remarked :— "Lindsay, is a New Zealand Scot, who has made his mark in the London Hospital team, and who has' teen deservedly honoured. He has played many games' as co-partner with Heale; he is a quick, .resourceful half, clever at the feint, a good passer-out, and keen in defence." . RUGBY MATCHES. : . FIXTURES'FOB SATURDAY. A series of matches will be played in New Zealand, probably at Auckland, Wellington, Nelson, Otago, and Kotorua. . 'MORE 'COLONIALS FOE ENGLAND. Should the proposad test of strength take place between the Northern Union representatives for Australia and New Zealand, and ft team of colonial players now in. England, some . slight difficulty may be experienced in securing a complement of forwards for the "aliens." This defect (remarks the "Athletio News").will not be apparent should another match be played next season, for we from a most'reliablo source that negotiations are proceeding- between two well-known Lancashire clubs and three players of repute now; in New Zealand, with a view to the colonials coming to England" next August. Tims once again will the spirit of tho drastic resolution of the Northern Union Committee be broken. . The desired players are not connected with the New Zealand League, but are Rugby Union nien, and will need no transfer.- The desire of the Northern Union is that colonial players should remain in the colonies, but until a resolution' strictly prohibitive in character and one which makes no dstinctiqn between the League and the Rugby Union is adopted we shall need to report this steady immigration, which, to say the least, is bound to check the progress of tbe game'abroad. KIA TOA CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Kia Toa Club, previously adjourned on account of the .paucity of attendance, took place at Otaki, in the Druids' Hall, on Saturday night, when there was a good attendance, Mr, Kingi Tahiwi being in the chair.
