LIVE STOCK SALES,

Messrs. - Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Blenheim, report holding their fortnightly stock sheep sale at Co-operative \ards, beddon, on Wednesday. • We hud a large yarding, consisting of about 2400 Eheep and lambs, 5 rams, 6 pigs, 4 head of cattle, 3 horses, and a Quantity of fruit. 'There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding was very keen throughout, prices for all kinds of sheep were well maintained, and, with the exception of two small pens of merino ewes, everything was cleared under the hammer. Prices ruled as follow:—Fat ewes, Bs., 83. Id., Bs. 2d., 83. 6d., to Bs. 9d.; fat lambs, shorn, 95. 7d. to 10s. 6d.; in wool, lls. to lls. 6d.; fat wethers, 145.; store wethers, lls. 2d. to 12s. 3d.; etoro lamba, 'shorn, 4s. sd. to 6s. Id.; rape lambs, ehorn, Bs. Id., Bs. lid. to 9s. Id.;, store lambs in wool. Bs. Bd. to Bs. 9d.; forward, 9s. 6d. to 10s. 4d.; 2-tooth halfbred ewes, 14s. Bd.; s.m., Bs. 10d. to 10s. 9d.; aged ewes, 2s. 6d., 6s. Id. to 6s. 2d.; E.L. rams, 15 to 23 guineas , ; fat cows, £5; 2 fat cows, £10 12s. ,6d.; springing heifers, £5; weaner pigs, 13s. to 145.; hack, £6; fruit sold well. LIVE STOCK AND PRODUCE. • Mr.Harry Palmer reports:—There' wa3 a very big entry of both pigs and poultry. Pigs' took a decided turn for the better, and prices showed a considerable increase on last week's values. The bulk of the pigs ottering were weaners, slips, and small stores, while'the quality'of all:lines, including. ■ porkers, was of. the best. The! poultry offered was also n. splendid lot of well-conditioned birds, which sold affair average values,' considering ■ the time ■of the year. There is a good firm market for produco of all kinds. Rood chaff, oats, and pollard have been ■ scarce during the week. The demand for good table potatoes is keen, at firm prices. Good vegetables, such as cabbage, carrots, and swedes, are scarce; there is a good demand. We sold the first of the season's swedes 10-day. Fruit is practically restricted to apples, quinces, and pears, all other lines being now out of season. During the past, week we held two sales of dairy stock. "Buyers are. keen for good young and sound cows, and the prospects for this class of stock airo bright. We quote as followß:—Young weariers, 3s. 6d. to 55.; good, ss. 9d., 65., 6s. '6a., 75., 7s. 6d., Bs., Bs. 6d., 9s. 6d., 10s. 3d., 12s. 6d.; small stores, 13s. 6d., 155.,'165.; porkers,' Is. Id., Is. 4d.; dncks, 35., 3s. 6d., 45., 4s. 6d., 6s. 6d.; hens and pnllets, 45., 4b. 6d., ss. ss. 6d., 65.; mixed sorts, 2s. to 45.; cocks, 2s. 6d.; 3s. 6d., 45., 43. 6d.; geese, 2s. to 2s. 6d. each. At Mr. Schnell's Bale the cows offered were a mixed'lot, with only fair condition. • Sound cows sold from £5 to £8 10s.; bull,'£2 10s. At Mr. 0. E. Larsen's sale on Wednesday last the cowb were a much hotter lot, and buyers wore keen. The cowa offered were in splendid condition, andwero mostly July and August calvers. Prices went from £5 17s. 6d. to £9 2s. 6d.. with an average of £7; bull, £2 55.; yearling heifers, £4 each; harness horse, £11: breeding sow, £2 12s. 6d.; empty bows, £1 17s. 6d. to £1 155.; single lever, plough, £6 55.; other farm implements and sundries at good prices; chaff, £4 105.,t0 £5 10s. a ton; pollard, 9s. 6d. to 10s. a sack; wheat, IBs.;'barley, ,93., 10s.; primo potatoes, 9s. to 10s.;'fair sample, 7s. to Bs. 6d.; pig potatoes. 2s. 6d.; pumpkins, 45.; marrows, 35.; swedes, ,35.; big pumpkins, 9d. to Is. Id. each; cooking apples, 2s. 6d. to 35 , . 6d. a case; dessert, 2s. 6d. to 4s. 6d.; pears, 2s. 6d. to 45.; quinces, 25.; to 35.; onions, 4s. to ss. a cwt.; bacon, 6d. lb. Our sal-3 of art pictures, on.account of Mr. Sandford, resulted in'the catalogue, of 75 pictures being sold. out at fair prices.
