A farmer of. the' Feilding district who ■las had. somo experience with experiments conducted by the Agricultural Department informed n "Star',' reporter, that, ha .had a strong objection to tho method adopted'. He points out that what the farmer wants to know is,- what is the least expense with which he can grow a good crop. He wanted to know how. to get a good crop of mangles—what quantity of manure to ■use'to get tho best all round results. The Department's officer.commenced by using 2cwt. of manure to tho acre, and afterwards' increased it to 7cwt. The farmer points out'.that uo man can afford to put 7cwt. of manure to the acre. He wants to know why the' experimenter does not commence with j-ewt.-'to the acre, and give the farmer » chance* • ■■■,-'.'
