April 7, 9.30 p.m.) , London, April 7. , At the ballot of the Welsh miners on the question whether they shall accept —as recommended by the Miners' Federation —the modified proposals of the mineowners, 60 per cent, of the miners voted. It was decided by an overwhelming .majority to accept the masters' term's. The miners in the Aberdare Valley Opposed the proposal. ■

FRENCH STRIKE. SENTENCES ON STOKERS. (Hoc. April 8, 0.15 a.m.) Paris, April 7.. The replacing of stokers by French bluejackets enabled a few mailboats to leave Marseilles. M. Choron, Under-Secretary for the Navy, continues his harangues. Nevertheless, the steamer Caledonien and thirty other vessels have not sailed. ' Strike-paid agitators are persuading tbo naval reservists to make a grievance out of the retention of a few dossen lascars in the service of various shipping companies, according to an agreement under which shipowners are entitled to include aliens to the extent of one-quarter of each crew.

The Maritime Court at Marseilles sentenced ten stokers to ten days' imprisonment for leaving their ship. Accused stated that they left upon their union's orders, fearing personal violence.

Proceedings have commenced against 500. others, similarly charged.
