M. WILLIAMS DEFEATS P. O'KEEFE. ' Although giving away a : stone in weight, P. O'Keefe was very confident, of his ability to defeat M. 'Williams'once:more, the-pair-having met in-Melbourne, some months ago, O'Keefe on this occasion proving the victor after 1G terrific rounds had : been contested. Tiis time the pair met. at the Stadium, Rushcutter Bay, and' Williams proved the victor in the eighteenth round, O'Keefe crying enough in that term. For a time it appeared that O'Keefe was going to repeat his previous performance, but Williams, taking bis,-punishment unflinchingly, forced the boxing all the time. Both were very tired at an early stage, and from the eighth round onward it was merely a matter of istamina, coupled with gameness, which would determine the winner. First one man would appear hopelessly beaten, but rallying again he would seem to have his opponent at his mercy. So the contest, progressed,, victory wavering in the balance, which now inclined one way, now another, till midway through the eighteenth round, when O'Keefe being down, ordered his towel to be thrown in. His corner obeyed his behest, andvictory rested with Williams, who appears to be boxing better at present than for some time past.
