INQUEST AT DUNEDIN. (By TeleeraDfi.—Press Association.! Dunedin, April 6. Thb inquest . concerning the death'of Janet ■M'Ooll, who died in the house of Mrs. Durston, nurse, at Mornington, on March 25, after having given birth to twins on March 16, was resumed today. ■. - - Elizabeth M'Coll, sister of: deceased, said when she visited deceased the latter .' looked very ill, and complained of being very tired. Witness suggested that deceased should go to' the hospital, but Mrs. Durston said l that was unnecessary, aa she had nursed her through the worst of her' illness,, and she would .be . better . where she was., Witness also suggested calling in a doctor, but both Mrs. Durs- : ton and deceased said that was unnecessary. Deceased did not inform witness \ that she was coming, to town. Witness knew a mau named Thomas Carr, who was their neighbour at - Waita'huna!: She had heard be had come to Dunedin in. the 6ame train as deceased, and asked 1 ; him if such' was the case. ;He denied it at first, but afterwards said he had dona so. He said they parted on Dunedin Railway Station on March 12., Carr .said deceased Was with some people he. knew, , . and was all right. He wonld not give the address, but said if witness - would . go with him on the following Monday, : he would take - her to deceased. On Man- ' j day,-March. 31, witness, her brother,' and Carr came to Dunedin in the same train, Witness left her brother and : Carr at the Ootagin. Carr would not take them to wherei deceased was, but said he would; go hiiusslf. Witness had not seen .Carr since. . Coming from Waitahuna, Oarr travelled in the guard's van; : . Dugald M'Coll (recalled) said that on, arrival in Dunedin: Carr said ; he would ; go and see if deceased was where he 'hnd left her, or if sho had gone to Norffi- : East VaUey to her sister. Witness had no 1! seen Carr since that day,. Sarah 'M'Coll, in the course of evidence, said deoeased was missing for a week.
