At the Lower.Hutt Police Court yesterday, before Messrs. Chapman, Elliott, .and Cudby, J.P.'s, Prank Meyrick, who 'did not_ appear, was fined 10s., with Is. costs, for selling short weight bread. Walter Coqley, charged with obscenity, was convicted and fined 205., with costs 11s., with the option of threo days' imprisonment. In the following civil cases judgment was given for plaintiff :—H. V. Westbury v. J. C. Brewer, .Is. Gd., costs 55.; same v. John Slines, 155., costs ss. In the case -of E. E. Murphy v.. I'utna Jones, claim, for possession of a plough, or; its value, £i 10s., plaintiff was non-suited, with costs 21s. Mr Smith appeared, for plaintiff, and Mr. Ayson for defendant.
