ITEMS OF INTEREST. It is announced in last night's Gazette that Mangaweka has been constituted a town- district. \ Among the districts in respect of which tho valuation rolls are to be revised as at March 31 are .the following: Hastings borough, Eangiwahia and Hautap.u ridings of Kiwitea County, Martinborough. town district, Alfredton riding of Masterton County, and . Potone borough. New regulations under tho Labour Department and Labour Day Act, 1908, the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, and the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and Factories Act are gazetted. . Mr. A. Greenfield, S.M., is appointed chairman of the. Licensing Committees for the districts of Egmont, Patea; and Stratford, vice Mr. H. E. Kenny, S.M. ' Tho Longoro Settlement, in the Hawke's Bay district, is declared to be land in tho Hawke's Bay district subject to the Land for Settlement Consolidation Act. Officers appointed in the Post and Telegraph Office include:—Permanent: E. N. Baigent, telegraph message boy, Longburn; W. H. Bcattie, telegraphist, Taihape; E. M. Dixon, cadette telephone exchange, Wellington; A. M'Gill, cadette' secretary's office, G.P.0.; H. Phillips, telegraph message boy, W.L.S. Nonpermanent postmasters: F. Chapman, Ir.nkoi; J. A. Cronch, Belvedere; G. ,T. Dawson, Maungaraupi; E. E. Gronbe, Waingawa; R. E. Williams,' Kaiwaiwai. Postmaster and telephonist, Mr. E. Mair, Miramar. Post offices opened include one at Ihufcoi, and among those closed are those at Mount Bruce and Tanglewood.
