MIRAMAR AFFAIRS.
LOAN OF £18,000. The Miramar Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. C. J. Crawford, presiding. ■':'",' Leave of absence was granted to Councillors M'Clelland and Bell.; The managing director of the Wellington Gas Company (Mr; William Ferguson) forwarded a plan showing the position of the pipes which it was proposed to My down in-the district of Miramar north, being the-first instalment of the work that the company proposed to carry out. The matter was considered in committee. A credit balance at bank totalling .£1252 2s. lid. was reported. Accounts were passed for payment to the amount of £220 13s. Od. ■■" " ■ Advice was received that the council's proposed loan of £48,000 for water supply and drainage had been provisionally approved by the State- Guaranteed Advances Board. The Mayor explained that a binding application must be made within six months of the provisional approval, and that tho whole amount must be taken within two years. A discussion on the financial position of the borough tramways is reported in another column.
