BOXING.
BURNS TO MEET LANGFORD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. March 31, 8.40-p.m.) . Sydney, March 31. Tommy Burns has accepted a challenge to fight Sam Langford at Richmond, near Oaklands, California, on September 25, for 25,000 dollars (^65000). \ LANGFfORD'S REPORTED DEFEAT. The Domejion's boxing contributor writes as follows:— : Sam Langford, the coloured middleweight wonder, was defeated recently in a ten-round bout at Los Angeles by Jim Flyn, whom he has previously' disposed of in a couple of hits. American writers, in particular Mr. Naughton, who has a remarkably keen nose for anything fishy, laugh at the result, considering , that Langford cast a sprat to Flyn to oatoh a mackerel, which mackerel is Stanley Ketchel, whose continued side-stepping of Langford is as ciever as anything he has ever done in the ring. Burns and Lang meet in Sydney on April 13, and present, indications point to a good contest eventuating. On all sides it is agreed that Lang has improved wonderfully.
