Autumn. June 3 and 4—Dunedin J.C. Winter. NOTES AND COMMENTS. [Bγ GiiENcobJ Sunbonnet was yesterday scratched for all engagements at the Wellington Eacing Club's Autumn meeting. y Mr. A. Ellingham, . the well-known Hastings sportsman, was in town yesterday. ' • . • • ' .'■ ;■•;■■ The time.registered by Bqbrikoff in the All-Aged Stakes yesterday is not:as.fast as that registered by Hontcalm in last year's race, but it is faster time than Bobrikoff had previously registered in public. .'..'' Ahnapai, , trhc ran third in the Scurry at Feilding, carries the colours of - Mr. H. Whitney. She' is a bay filly by San Fran from Basilisk, dam of Ataahua, and she created a very favourable impression at Feilding by the way in which she streaked away from the field at the start. She entered the straight with a commanding lead, and it looked then as if she could not be beaten, but she tired badly over the last half-furlong, and Celaeno and Horrier both finished in front of her. _ K should not bo long before her owner is rewarded with.a win. y . The New Zealand Cup winner, Frisco, ' who bas been doing stud duty at Hunter- ;. yille, has again been put into work, and is in the same stable as North East and i. Strathmoira. The principal winning jockeys during • the holiday, meetings were:—E. Lambess 5, B. Hatch i, L. Wilson 3, W. Eyan 3, A. Oliver 2, and H. Cairns 2. ' Bismarck was successful at Patea, and i the same night was railed to Feilding, ; where he contested' the Hack Welter on . the second day of that meeting, but he . finished.out , ,of a place. . . , • The Porirna horses, Diabolo and Gipsy i- Belle, along with Boanerges, will arrive i from the south this morning, and will go ■ direct to Trentham. , : : ■ ■ ;■ Coronetted did not run up to hie best form in\the Easter Handicap at Feilding, • but it should be remembered that he.had. 1 all the bad_ luck in the race, , and was ■ on the outside of three horses'the whole ' way. ; .■■■...-,;,. .-■•.. ' .-. ■■- ■■ Milan was very sore after racing'in the Feilding Cap,' so F. Tilley decided not to race her on the second day. When Himitangi fell in the Hack Hurdles at Feilding on Easter , Monday he gave H. Futcher a.nasty fall;but luckily no bones were broken, though the horse- ' man was too shaken to/allow him fulfilling any engagements on' the second ' day. The- horse was -in a much' worse plight, and it will be wine time before ' he races again. , . ' ■ ■ i v The Highden-owned filly Celaeno appeared' to stand out as far the best of the Scurry field at Feilding, but nevertheless she was allowed to pay a false price. Oliver got her out smartly, but Ahuapai and Puketotara had too much, pace for her over the first three furlongs. In ;the straight she was pulled well out ', to get on the firmer going, and the leaders tiring,.allowed her to win very-comfort-ably. - . i ■ - . • The Wairarapa. jockey: S. Eeid is, again able to , ride, and!,he steered Dawn ..to victory in the Welter at Eljerslie, on Tuesday.., It'is worthy of note that thi9 is the first race' Dawn has been .successful in since leaving the Karamu stables.
