The damage is chiefly confined to Suva and the vicinity of Levoka. Ba, ,Lautoka, and Taviuni escaped damage, but it will bo a few days before the effect of tho storm on any of the outlying islands is known. ■'. A hurricano raged at Noumea (capital of tho French island of Now Caledonia) on Sunday last, causing great damage. Houses were unroofed, telegraph lines blown down, and roads washed away by tho high seas. Tho German gunboat Cormorant lost several boats in the gale. MISSION REPORTS. (Hoc. March 31, 1.40 a.m.) , '■' ■.•'.'. Sydney, March SO. The secretary of tho Methodist Mission has received a cablegram from Suva announcing that great damngo has been done-'to mission buildings, and that thero havo been a number,of casualties, but no fatalities. The damage, so far as is knotrn, is estimated at',£3ooo.
