Greenfield, a gentleman who.has been for years off tho bench, and who. is said to be considerably over 70 years of age. . Keen resentmentis felt at the action of the Government in mating these temporary appointments' and entrusting tho administration of justice to'men, who cannot be expected to.be in their full .vigour.. It is stated that' a public .protest will be made—not against the gentleman appointed personally, but against the'system of reinstating men who have long been retired.
