No resident of Southland has a placein the Upper House, and recently, at a meeting o£ Urn -Invercnreill Council, it was decided to direct tho attention of tho Government to th« fact. A reply has been received from Sir Joseph Ward to Iho council's communication. He ■says:— "I may say that tho representations urged in support of tho resolution are noted, untl tho correspondence will be laid boforo the Cabinet (or consideration when appointments to tho Upper House axe being dealt pith."
