AT PALMERSTON. .'- SCOTT AND YOUNG OPPONENT. (By Telegraph— Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, March 28. The Manawatu Caledonian Society's annual gathering was hold to-day in fine but dull weather. ' There was a large attendance of the public, and the sports, taken all round, were very successful. During the day a'fairly strong easterly wind, blowing straight up-the ground, made its presence felt, and account's for the good times put up in some of the events. The most notable feature of the gathering was the defeat of R. J.
