A YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH. INQUEST OPENED., (By Teleeraph.—Press Association.! Dunedin, March 26. ■ Jcannio M'Coll, a single woman, about 30 years age, who kept house for her brother at Waitahuna Gully, died early yesterday morning, in a house at HavelocV Street, Mornington, occupied by Mrs. Durston. She left her brother's house on Saturday, March 12, and came to Dunedin, apparently going to Mrs. Durston's house on the following Tuesday evening. Next morning twins were born prematurely, and she died yesterday morning about 1.30 o'clock, just after Dr..Fitchett had been called in. An inquest was opened at the morgue this afternoon,.before the coroner (Mr. H. Y. Widdowson). Dugald M'Coll, miner, living at Waitahuna Gully,.stated that deceased had| been keeping house for him, but he was rarely at home except on Wednesday nights, and from Saturday till Monday. When he last saw.his sister, she was so ill that he did not ask questions. Mrs. Durston had informed him that death was due to failure of _the heart, or something to that effect. None of them knew of deceased's condition, and witness did not know where deceased lived between March ,12 > and March 15. He believed,.however, that deceased had informed her sisters as to her condition. Mrs. Durston appeared to be very kind to deceased. ■'. •. At' this stage the inquest' was adjourned till Friday. . He fell on his head on the'metalled road,'and was apparently dragged some little distance tflf the horses stopped. When picked up Welch was insensible, and was removed to the Tiiapeka Hospital;'. Dr. Sutherland,;who dressed the wounds, is not yet;in,a position .to say whether he will recover: or n0t....

He was: a genial old English gentleman, and though not a prominent public man, took a'great interest in the affairs, of the town. Rosenberg,- 123. Manners Street, will regret ' to hear that he met with a very serious motor accident, whilst cycling'to Woodville on" Good Friday.. - The accident caused 'concussion :of the brain and .a fractured skull,- and Mr. Rosenberg is now lying'in a.very critical condition at tho Thorndon Private Hospital.
